PCS supports CU4Reality

Every year, Service Credit Union teaches a financial education class for the middle school students that goes throughout the school year called CU4Reality (Credit Unions for Reality). These classes teach and demonstrate to the students how to save, make wise spending habits, how to interview for a job and explains the details about credit cards and loans. The students each receive a fake checkbook and are paid based upon their grades and attendance; if they have good grades, they get paid more and if they miss school, they lose pay (just like in reality).

At the end of the school year, SCU holds a CU4Reality Fair and the students use the skills they have learned to go in to the "real world" and make real life spending decision based upon how well they have done throughout the year. At the event local vendors will set up booths so the students can go get housing, insurance, transportation, food and different temptations (spa, cell phones, entertainment). Once they go to all the booths, they visit a credit counselor and see if they made wise financial decisions.
